Google will start ranking pages with intrusive ads lower on search results

googleads

Trying to browse the internet quickly, even on the fastest smartphones, has become much harder in recent years. Advertisements take up valuable screen real estate, and can cause your phone's browser to slow to a crawl. Even worse, some sites *coughWikiacough* have taken to using full-screen advertisements and other popups.

As Jean-Luc Picard once said, "The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!" Google has taken the offensive in the battle against intrusive mobile ads, using their influence as the most popular search engine as leverage.

Prisma should soon work offline by processing images on your device

prisma

Prisma has been available on Android for exactly a month now, but the app's developers haven't wasted time trying to improve it in the meantime. Shortly after the app's release, an update added a much-needed Save button, but there was still one major inconvenience to using the app: the wait times and the overloaded servers.

Prisma doesn't work like all other photo editing apps. Its effects aren't just regular filters à la Instagram, but they're built on neural networks that try to understand the original image and apply changes in a way that works specifically with them.

TWRP is now available for the Galaxy Note7 (Exynos), Tab A 10.1 WiFi, J7 (2106), and Xiaomi Mi Max Pro

DSC04211

And the first step to doing things your way on your phone is by installing a custom recovery, with TWRP being the most famous now — well, it is indeed superbly maintained and its developers are always on top of new devices.

LG G5 gets very limited 7.0 Nougat preview

lg g5

Before today, only Google devices, the Sony Xperia Z3, and the Sony Xperia X Performance had Android 7.0 previews built for them. Now, another Android has joined the Nougat ranks—the LG G5. Whether you like the G5 or not (David sure didn't), it's getting a Nougat preview right now, albeit with more than a few catches.

First off, you'll need to be in South Korea. That makes some sense, given that LG is a South Korean company and that this is only a beta.

nexus 6p photos

Google Photos' advertising team has been on fire lately. First, there was that ad about how you won't miss important moments with Photos' "Free up space" feature. Then, there was the one about how even if you jump into a pool, your photos will be safe thanks to auto backup. Now, there's one called "Photos. For Life." that talks about the features the previous two discussed, and more.

This new commercial is quite long at 1:44, but it's worth every second.

TellTale's Mr. Robot game is disguised as the official E-Corp messenger app

ecorpUSA Network's Mr. Robot is all the rage among tech fans, and not just because it's probably the most faithful depiction of real-world hackers ever to hit primetime.
